WET MEDIA
Wet is any media that flows, or in other words, uses a liquid as pigment medium. Oil, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and ink all wall into that category.

a deer's mind
I created this painting during wintertime in San Diego. The catch is that San Diego doesn't really have winter the way a person from the North would see it. I grew up with seasonal weather, and it inspired not just my art, but me as a person. It was the natural cycle by which everything else was structured. And I miss it. The deer represents this longing - the desire for seasons, and everything else that comes with them.
ACRYLIC PAINT AND GOLD LEAF ON BFK RIVES
BULGARIAN PHOENIX
The genetic makeup of a contemporary Bulgarian includes three main groups; the Thracians, the Slavs, and the Old Bulgarians. Each head represents one of these three ethnicities, united in one body. I've used the eagle as an archetype of power, and the colors of the burning phoenix as a symbol for dynamic rebirth. My insignia, which is the logo of this website, is interwoven with Bulgaria's oldest symbol ( that same symbol is shown between the bird's legs). This is a claim to me being inseparately connected to my roots and my people. Both signs are done in gold, for gold is reserved for what's highest.
* This is not a Nazi piece. Most cultures use/ have used the eagle as a power symbol, and the combination of black, white, and red are probably the most iconic color combination.

to not fear death
The skull is an universal symbol of death. The flower is a symbol of life, but of it's opposite too. Yellow is the brightest, most intense and lively color. I have painted a beautifully stylized skull by using curvy lines, which are naturally pleasing to the eye. I used these symbols to create a subversive image that claims death not as something to be feared, but as s friend, a positive within itself.

An abstract watercolor that serves as the playground for an imaginative mind. Look long enough and you will start seeing.

There are three bird generations in this one. I encourage you to find them.

against the grain
A mass of entities flows in a direction. An individual flows opposite to them. By choosing how to hang the piece, you can have two readings of the painting. If hung as it is here, it shows the majority going down blindly, and the individual rising. If you hang it upside down, you get the opposite. A matter of personal choice.

the tree of life
From a purely technical point of view, this is a stained glass design. I was hesitant of whether or not it belongs here, or on my illustrations page. But it's place is here, because it has deep symbolism and an unifying meaning that is connected to the human condition. The Tree of Life outlines a person's path to the highest self-realization, be that professional, academic, personal, interpersonal, or other. At the base are the roots - hands - muddy, striving, fighting among each-other for the higher levels. The middle level represents the branches and leafs - a point of stability and growth. The crown is a mandala (or rose window). It stands for the pure blossom of self.

cosmic light
A single candle burns in darkness. An egg is placed above it. The moment the flame licks the shell, both objects have new meaning. The fire is now wild, high and bright, splitting darkness in half, for it's brightness and warmth now have purpose. To nurture another is to grow yourself, and that is probably the most beautiful symbiotic relationship.

aries aquarius
Aries is a fire sign. Aquarius is an air sign. I painted an androgynous person as the vessel of an Aries person, but made the focal points as attributes of aquariusness. The lips and throat are blue (Aquarius), as well as the soul - a blue orchid inside the belly. So this is an Aries with Aquarius ascendant. I find working with astrology to be interesting, because there are so many ways to create and interpret meaning.

A great artist once told me that blue and brown are born for each other. I believe him, thus the palette for this abstract watercolor.

Birds in space
There is a number of birds scattered on here. The only clue I will give you is that each one of them has an eye, and each eye is a tiny black dot. Some require image rotation to be seen.

beauty burned the house down
Blue lived in a brown house. Red flowers grew up from the brown dirt outside. So beautiful was their color. The brown house got inspired, and to mimic what it was inspired by, it started burning with red flames.

Beyond the fields, my hometown is nestled at the base of a plateau. Menacing clouds gather over it, reddened by the setting sun. Something is about to happen.

blue soul
A flower dies an falls to the ground. A blue butterfly flies away. Heaps of dead bodies on the ground. Blue butterflies above them. A prison guard on duty, smoking a cigarette, with his dog at his feet. There's no room for a soul within him, so he has invested it in his friend.

the four thinkers
To oversimplify this, it shows 4 different types of thought. The philosopher is in the foreground - his thoughts shape one another. To the left of him is the scientist - his thoughts are much more linear. Behind him is the emotional thinker - we can call him paradox man - his thoughts are feelings, but thoughts. Then, in the farthest distance, is the artist - he takes all modes of thought and brings them together.

john's journey
I had never met a person more determined to become a billionaire than John. He helped me cheat on my math exam, and without him I wouldn't have passed that class. When I asked him what he wanted painted as a 'thank you' gift, he said ' three commas, as in $ 1,000,000,000''. So I did. First is the blue comma - easy, a cloudless sky. Then the second one, the hardest one - it will be bloody, John, you will be walking through the very flames of hell. And then there is his third comma, his star rising, golden and bright. The background is of repeating white and black lines - the good times and the bad times come one after the other.

goals and opportunities
She's in a city. All of the spheres around her represent the opportunities she has. All she needs to do is reach down and grab as many as she likes. But she has no interest. Passion burns within her, she doesn't want what she is presented with from the outside, her desire and the object of it comes from within.

red, gold, and flesh, are to man as rot, excrement and vinegar are to the fly
I wanted to catch people's eyes with this one, so I went back to what I was told by an American artist: ''If you want to sell anything, make it big, red, naked and shiny.''

This one has to do with the snake as an archetype, as well as with Carl Jung's 'shadow'. That's as much as I can say at this point.

Two betrayals and a car crash later, this is what came out. Painted right after being released from ER, with a concussion and all the honesty I've had.
